Steering wheel
On my 2000 LS400, there are 3 push buttons on the steering wheel labelled as "function", "mode" and "reset". I cannot figure out what's the purpose of the "function" button. It's not even mentioned in the manual. Thanks

Function button lets you scroll thru the various viewable options of the car such as fuel used, get to the tripA and Trip prortion etc. Just play around with it. You cant hurt anything with this.

I also have a 2000 LS400. I think the main purpose of the function button is to return the display to its normal mode after a problem message has been displayed. Regardless, it is all explained in your owners manual.
For example, if a message about brake pad wear has been displayed, one presses the function button to be able to scroll through the normal displays.

The function button is basically useless.
I would've preferred stereo volume, fan speed, or english/metric.
Any of these buttons would be used often ... I have used the function
button once ... to clear the "moonroof open" message, but tapping the
mode button would've done the same thing.
