Default Anyone add oil to their fan clutch?

I opened up my fan clutch but the black seal inside is not fitting back into grove. The seal when fitted up is too big. Dealers are closed now to find out if they sell the seal and the auto parts stores I tried don't have this seal. Anyone had this problem?

There are some Mercedes owners who have done this, but I'm not aware of it being a popular thing for the LS400.

I've done this on previous Toyotas and just completed it today.
Everything seems to working fine now, with the oil added in.

What year and how did you do it as my clutch is locked up solid until 3000 rpm.

Mine is a 95 and I simply removed the fan from the fan clutch, removed the fan clutch from the pulley, opened it up and added fluid. Mine was not locking up though, it was spinning slow.

What viscosity oil did you use? The Land cruiser guys like to use the 6k, but the stock clutch seems to come with 3k.....

It is a silicone fluid and very thick. You can get it in small bottles through Toyota. They have 3,000 cst, 6,000 cst, and 10,000 cst (IIRC.) You can also buy it at hobby shops that specialize in RC cars.
