Nailed a MASSIVE pothole a few weeks back, here's the damage...now thinking about powercoating the face black/gunmetal...

Lucky me, both front and rear driver side wheels were swallowed up.

Ouch thats nasty :-( I feel for you. Damnit crap roads with potholes that a not fixed.

But instead of powdercoat?? I dont think i would like the look, take it to a good rim repair specialist. Do some research where to find a good one, i think you have change it can be straightent out again.

I thought about the monotone look, but I always go back to the fact that this is a 12 year old car and I don't really want to give it an ultra-modern appearance. I like the classy nuances that made the LS what it was at the time. Also, the 2 tone actually matches my wheels.

It would look something like this if it wa all black. Looks beautiful tough!

I haven't been updating this thread as my mods were pretty minimal. The major work has mostly been maintenance and some body repair.

I finally settled () with a head/fog/tail light vinyl film combo. I replaced the grill once and painted it at least 3 times.

Of the "mods left" from my original post in 9/07...

"The only mods left are....
1. Eyelids - very soon
2. LS430 Xenon Retrofit
3. 3000K HID foggies
4. Custom Intake
5. Custom Exhaust"

I've added the eyelids, HID foggies and intake. There are still some mods I'd like to do, but they aren't anything that update the car to today's standards. Keep in mind this is a 12 year old car!!

I'm still on the fence with the LS430 retrofit as I like the look of the original headlights, not so much the bug-eyed projector retrofit look. Also, the exhaust is questionable as I really like the comfort of a silent cruiser. However, I am still open to getting some throaty V8 rumble....maybe a butterfly valve for noise control?

My new "mods left" list includes:

1. Retrofit IS300 yellow projectors into foglights - of course without looking too different
2. M3 style rear lip spoiler
3. Figure out exhaust

Don't be surprised if these 3 take me another 2 years
It's amazing how much those eyelids make it look similar to an LS460 looks great!!! What did you paint your grill with?

Thanks shirkes! I've removed the eyelids a few months back...the adhesive on one of them was slipping so I just took them off. I'm going to change the front end slightly, then look at putting them back on.

The grill was easy, but time consuming. Pulled it off, sanded it down, primed it, then put like 10 coats of gloss black paint from Home Depot. The hardest part is being patient between coats. I've had this grill (2nd one so far) painted for a couple years now and it's been holding up fantastically.

The M3 is incredible, completely different than the LS. I've never driven a car that you feel so connected to, and provides all around amazing performance. The E36 M3 is just raw, no electronic interference and is purely driver centric. It's not as raw as the E30 M3, but does have front/side airbags, a bunch of surprising creature comforts and amenities for it's time and a huge stock pile of parts available.

M3: amazing performance, raw power, perfect for twisties and weekend cruises
LS: buttery smooth, "soft" (20"s and coilovers, I guess softer) ride, luxurious and insanely reliable

How big are those Vossens? 19" or 20"? I'm hoping 20", because they look a little too big for my taste, and I was looking to snag a set of 19" CV3s for LS4.
