Default Silly light question - 96 LS400

What do the very outside lights do?

I know the inner light is the normal headlight, next to those are the fog lights, and then what are the outside lights?

I have one that BARELY lights up at all and the other is out, dealer did give me a light for it for free when i bought it.

I just don't know what they are for lol.

Thanks

The corner lights on the 90-97 LS are known as "city lights" in Europe. For many years in some large European cities (Paris is the best example), headlights were not allowed in the central city and "city lights" were all that were allowed at night. There was an arbitrary 5 watt limit on the light output so car manufacturers used all sorts of tricks with lens and reflector design to maximize the light output. Beginning with the 1998 LS, the city lights were included in the main headlight housing.

In the 98 LS without DRL you can see the light from the city lights when the ignition switch is on or off and the headlight switch is in the parking light position.

In the 99-00 LS with DRL, you can only see the light from them when the ignition is off and the headlight switch is in the parking light position.

You can install your fog lights in them and then have 55watts.
