Default Where to buy upper control arms???

Morning all!

First post here. Just got a 1991 LS400, and it needs some servicing! BAD!

Went to get an alignment yesterday, and they tell me that both upper and lower ball joints need to be replaced on both sides. Found the lowers for a decent price, but I guess you have to replace te entire upper control arm to replace the upper ball joints?

Cheapest I've found is $380 for each side. Can someone direct me to a cheaper, yet safe solution? Maybe someone has them a little cheaper and I just don't know where to look?

Thanks in advance!
Nick

lower ball joints are cheap.. search for that.. the upper are very expensive.. I suggest finding some used ones with some good ball joints and swapping out the bushings with the Daizens

Yeah, the lowers are not a problem for me. I was just researching the uppers.

Sorry PureDrifter, I did do a search, but most everything for the LS400 is over a year old. Just asking to see if maybe there was any new info out there.

Maybe used is the best way to go - can't believe the control arms are so expensive - I thought Daizen made replacements for the first gen.

they make replacement bushings, not the ball joint. But then again, I heard the guys out in Australia were designing replacement ball joints some time back for those upper arms

That would be nice since there is not much to the little ball joint - crazy expensive man. The CA's are real easy to change - that is the only good thing I guess.

Sorry you got rid of your LS - glad you got a M3. It is a fantastic drivers car.
