need help, question on new LS
okay people,
i know with my GS i can get a key cut and program it if i have an existying master key.
i have searched CL to find the concept of keys with the 92 LS i just got but cannot get any definite answer.
i do not want to end up loosing the only key that came with the LS so ineed your help.
the key mine came with has a button on the side but i put a new battery in and it still does not work.
i found a key on ebay with matching key numbers and has the side button.so here are my questions.
here is the key link http://cgi.ebay.ca/LEXUS-Key-W-Remot...QQcmdZViewItem
1. Can i buy this and program it to work with my car?
2. if this won't work, can i buy some keys, have them cut and program it to the car?
3. if the above are not possible, what are my other options besides buying an entire set of keys with a new chip?
i hope you guys can help before the auction ends.
thanks guys

questions about keys
Olddog,
Call Makiedo in San Francisco. They are the people who repair the climate control. They have a new key set up for the 1st gen. cars. It comes with two new keys and even has a trunk release. I put it in my 1990 ls for about 250 dollars. Works great!!

Just in case you haven't done it already, there is a button above the parking brake release lever that needs to be pushed in. It enables the car to respond to the remote.

If im not mistaken, on the early first gens, to enable a new remote, and key, you have to get a new ECM chip as well. Cant just program your key to your existing one until 95.
You can copy the key, and it will work, but for another remote to work, you need to change that chip.
By the way, the actual key needs no programming to unlock, and start the car.

Uncle El... Thanks for helping out on the spelling of Mikado. As you can see I'm not great at it!! But I can tell you guys. That their key system works great!!. They take your VIN number. And cut two, new style keys without the lexus logo. And they unlock the car a lot farther away than the oem key. not to mention!! It has a trunk release option. I had the system installed at a local independent Lexus shop. It took them 20 minutes. And cost 250 dollars. They gave me the install infromation when I paid the bill by accident. It seem very easy to install. It just plugs in to the wiring.

i saw that on ebay!! it was only like $120. I was gonna buy it but didn't have the money. The keys could almost pass for stock if they had the lexus logo right? They said all you have to do is plug it in to your existing system. Even if your current keys work right? dang i hope they put it back on ebay.
