Does the Lexus LS 400 really have a longer lifespan in terms of mileage than other cars???
I have a 96 LS 400 with 63k and am wondering if the main components of the car will go 100k or 200k without major work.
I know Gm and Ford will go this far -- with a tremendous amount of work and money -- not what I'm interested in.
How long will these things really last -- of course assuming proper maintenence!!

Yes I have seen a LS with more than 360,000 miles on it.The only really problem with the LS is the steering pump.Other than that,just get the LS maintained and it should be fine.


The only thing that might cost is the 60k or 90k timing belt tune up job which runs about $1000.

I have seen 90 LS 400 with 250,000 miles. I have heard ls 400 can go up to 300,000 miles. With proper maintaince, it will be worth the investment. I have asked to replace a LS 400 engine with labor is only $2,200.

After i got my LS 400 (a month agao) i replace the H2O pump, Timing belt, spark plugs, pulleys, spark wires, radiator and power steering pump. Currently my 90 LS have 127k miles on it and it can go for another 15-17 years without any many problem.

Of course with power adders, the life of the engine will be very short.
