Default A formal introduction...

Hello all.

I am the proud owner of a 1992 LS 400 and thought I should introduce myself. I have posted here and there but thought I should say hi.

My LS has 180K miles even though I thought it had 120k. Well upon a carfax I found the odometer descrepancy. Overall I love the car. Very nice ride, very luxury.

I changed the rack and pinion, outer tierods and all four tires. Gives me a nice ride. I need to clean the motor though to see if I have any power steering leaks. I don't believe so based on my fluid level but need to be sure. I also had to replace an exhaust gasket which quieted the car.

However, I do have the little quirks. Incorrect temp gauge due to bad sending signal from engine bay. A tachometer that doesn't read. I have researched these problems and will take care of them shortly.

My biggest quirk is this. I have a 92 LS but my cluster is that from a 93. Also my climate control is from the 93 with the two seperate screens. My passenger seat is an 8 way power seat. I am most concerned about the cluster since I can't tell my mileage via an odometer. The trip counters work though. The speedometer and gas guage work also, as do all the lights. When you press the OD button no indicator lights up the same goes for the trac control. Upon startup the trac light does test itself.

I don't see any cable back there where the mechanical odometer would even connect. I am confused on this matter. I want to get the little things delt with before any upgrades can happen.

Any help, besides telling me to search will be appreciated. I am sympathetic to to search being a tool, but don't bother answering me with the "Do a search" reply.

So, hello to all and hope to be a member for a while.

Thanks siamiam. These are beautiful cars.

Wow, after 47 views only one reply. Not the friendliest environment I see.

Welcome to the club. You will find alot of very useful information here. I also have a 92 black/grey with 161K. This is a very friendly forum however it just takes a little time for them to warm up to you. Remember that even though you have had 40 + views, all may not be members who can post comments. Post pics of your ride.

Thanks. I will post pics soon even though it has the annoying NYC scratches especially the rear bumper. I do love how the interior came out after a detail job.

Welcome, pito! Yes, you definitely will find lots of useful info here! I have a 93 LS, and I've saved at least a few thousand in repairs by searching the forums here! I wish you the best, ask a question if you have one. Make sure you search first, that guy PureDrifter is a mean dude!
