Default why is my brake lamp on?

This is the warning light on the dash for either the brake light or tail light. My tail lights work fine and I even did change the side marker light/parking light bulb and this light is still on.My mech said it is the ground and I might need to tighten the screw that holds the ground in the trunk.he also said it is common on Toyotas.
Also, my ac light keeps flashing on and off. This causes the compressor to kick on and off.Sometimes it just works fine all day.
Anyone ever heard of this?
Thanks!

Their are several things you can check, the light is only related to the rear lights.

Reset the light but starting again. Does the light come on when you press the brake pedal?? Or when you turn on the headlights/Tail lights???

First turn on the tail lights and ensure they ALL work.

Second have someone press the brake pedal and ensure ALL stop lights work and they are bright.

Third, while someone is pressing the brake pedal, open the trunk slowly. It's very common for the wires to break at the hinge. When the trunk lid is moved the wires seperate.

Fourth, wrong wattage bulbs can cause the lamp failure light to come on.

Let us know what happens when you do your checks!

Default my bad doc!

I finally had someone hit the brakes at night and went to the back. The damn light for the brakes attched to the trunk was out.It was hard to tell in the day time and no wonder no one picked up on it.This is even much easier than when I took out the tail lights on the body itself.
Sorry guys!
