i'm sick and tired of $128 front pads that rumble, throw out tons of dust, and don't get 20k. has anyone tried ebc greenstuff, or another brand? MUST you replace with semi-metallic? i don't do any track driving, only the usual city/hwy. i have a "93 ls.

Unless you ride around with your foot on the brake, Lexus factory original pads should last a very long time. On the LS400 your front pads typically go in excess of 50k miles. Rears 40k +
Aftermarket pads or having your brakes serviced at places other than your Lexus dealership is what usually causes early brake pad failure.

Hey Bogee ,I may get alot of flak for this but ...
I put on BENDIX pads from my local
guy , they stop very well , but probably not good for repeated high speed stops, like you I don't do that kinda of driving , I re-used the shims and clips. 20K and still 1/2 life left, no squeal or rattling I am aware of. $25.00 bucks. front set.

I'm ordering PBR metal masters for my 90 LS. They are semi-metallic, very low dust, and supposed to last longer than the stock. Full set (both axles) $90 shipped. They might be worth looking into for your 93. That cost is less than I *was* being charged for stock replacements.
I may get replacement rotors from the same source. Bradi cross-drilled, slotted, and zinc-plated. Bradi is made by Brembo. Fronts and backs for $240 (+ shipping). Hoping to lessen brake fade and brake dust.
