Default Brake Fluid indicator light - 92 LS 400

My Brake Fluid Indicator light stays on all the time, even after I topped it above the full mark. When i disconnect the sensor that comes out from the rubber cap, the light goes away. A new sensor cost $100 so I am thinking of leaving the sendor disconnected (cannot stand the warning lamp).

My question: Is this sensor very important? Should I happen to suddenly lose brake fluid, will there be other warning systems telling me that my brakes are giving me problems?

anyone tried repairing the sensor?

A system to do that won't do you any good - if you should happen to loose pressure and or fluid rapidly, odds are your brakes won't function and the sensor will be the least of your worries.
