Passer-by makes offer on the LS

Passer-by makes offer on the LS
Was at the in-law's place and a guy walking down the street is admiring the car. He smiles and offers $6K for the car. I laughed and said no thanks. Back in my mind I'm thinking...does it look like it's a $6K car?!
I've encountered this in the past...what motivates some of these people to make (what I consider rude/insulting) offers like this?

Rude People
I think most people are jealous when they make comments or ask about the price of cars. When i want to know a price i contact dealers. Just ignore them, they are doing the devils work to make you and others feel bad when you were feeling good before there comments. GOD gave us all what we have and some are jealous because they didnt work as hard as we did to be able to purchase our cars. So rather new or used hold your head up and ignore negative people. Real car buffs dont make insulting offers, they know Lexus' resale values. (GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME)

Sounds like that guy jsut doesnt know the value of a used lexus!
Some people make low estimates just out of jealousy lol One of my buddies is like "what did you pay 2 grand for that?" and then
some people dont know the value! I was playing golf today with a friend and we stopped to get fries... This teenage punk was smoking weed and complimented my car. We were chatting and i'm like guess how much i paid for it - him: " I dunno, 25, 32, 42,000?"

RA40,
I have always admired your car, she is awesome. Don't get bugged by insolent people making crude offers. I believe the Gen 2.0 body is the classiest LS of them all, although Gen 1 is the most stylish. Take care.

That guy might think that you car is the early 90-92 Lexus which is price around $5000. Some older people, my mom for example, can't tell the different between early and late model LS400. She said it really look alike.

I own one of only 3 lexuses in town. Mine a 1st gen., the others a 2nd and 3rd. People think I spent a LOT more for my car than the $5700 that I did. I now have the opportunity to buy a 1st gen LS for about $4000 that I would like for my son to have for a school car....but, I am afraid a bunch of people will think I paid a ton for my son's school car. Strange the different perspectives people have in different places.

If you need another son to buy an LS for as a school car, I'm available for adoption... . Might be a bit old for school now, of course...
