Default ECT Power/Normal Swtich on 95-97 LS

Does anyone know if the ECT Power/Normal switch on a 95-97 LS is supposed to illuminate when the lights are on? I have a 95 LS without air suspension and it does not illuminate. I've received conflicting information from the local dealer and official parts catalog. The dealer says only if the LS has both Air Suspension & ECT switches, but the official parts catalog says the single switch has a light bulb. Any thoughts???

Well, a friend of mine has a 95, and another has a 96.

The one in the 95 doesnt light up, but in the 96, it does. Not sure if its something in the year changes, or the one in the 95 is just burned out.

The ECT will have an illuminated indiucator in the instrument cluster when engaged, lower left in green I recollect. As for the switch itself on the console, it does not light up.

Im sure your is supposed to light up as well. Because im 100% sure my friends 96 lite up. So does my 98's. So MAYBE lets just say it was a 96+ thing which I doubt, your 97 should.

Or it could be that light bulb doesnt last very long, and indeed that 95's do have them.

My 90' has a green indicator light for the ECT, it does not have air suspension. and its a good swift kick in the @$$ when it comes to "power" (as it isn't really power its just more fuel I think)

ECT stands for Electronically controlled transmission. It just changes shift points, and how soon to upshift, or downshift.

Default ECT Switch Update

I had the ECT switch on my 95 LS replaced by dealer today (under warranty) and the new one illuminates! (p/n 84720-50020)
