My 1994 LS 400 gives the intermittent rear brake light warning on dash. Comes and goes, not clearly related to using the brake for the first time. Connector looks okay-but I think the source may be upper outer brake lamp, which occasionally seems to go out. Anything that sounds familiar here-or the usual trace to loose connector somewhere story? Thanks-Jay

That is a sign of your rear brake light about to give out.
Happen to me.
It gones on and off is just a warning for you that it is about to die.
It will stay on completely when the light dies.
Usually when your back there just change out all of them at once.
They only cost like a few bucks a pair.

There is a pigtail harness at the rear for each set of tailamps, brakelights etc. It goes bad on LS's every once in a while. It is the first place that I would look for an intermittent problems with the tail lamps.

This happened to me. I replaced the bulb, and it continued. The pigtale socket connector looked fine, but I replaced it (about $35.00 at dealership). It happened once shortly after the replacement, but has been okay for about 2 months since then. The pigtale wasn't corroded or worn. Turning the bulb in the socket caused it to go on and off, so it certainly seemed to be a connection problem between the bulb and socket. I can't explain the one failure after the replacement.
