Default 3rd brake light staying on

in my 2005 es330, the brake light indicator was on. the brake filament in the right rear was burnt out, so i bought a bulb and replaced it. I plugged it in and the 3rd brake light in the windshield goes on and stays on. Even when i'm driving without braking the light is lit up.

Might be a stuck brake light switch. It may be stuck in the closed position making the car think you're pressing the brake.

That's what i thought too. The problem ended up being that...when I replaced the dud right rear break light bulb, i put the bulb in the outlet pretty forceful and the two pieces of copper in the outlet forced together, touching, creating a short. Problem fixed!
