Default center dash light

Hi guys,

Got a '93 Ls 400 2 weeks back.
The ride is really decent , thanx to this forum i have been able to solve a few problems.

but now I got a wiered problems

The speedometer is slow (inaccurate) the car actually travels faster than what the spedo indicates.

The illumination on the center dash, namely the Aircon, clock, stereo & shifter lever are not light.
The aircon & clock are illuminated when the light switch is off, but when the light switch is switched to park and headlight position, the illumination goes off.

Any directions on what & where to look for.

Thanx in advance.

Did you try increasing the light intensity? Make sure its set to max, and then try again. (there is a little **** near the alram system light indicator.

Because there is a NIGHT mode, and DAY mode. In my 98, the car has a light sensor so it detecs weather its daytime or nightime outside to adjust the light accordingly, so maybe when you click it to park, the car assumes your at night, and adjusts the lights to the night time setting.

Well Grand LX,

Tried your suggestion, the brightness does increase on the cluster console, but no luck with the center dash.

I thought the light sensor was for when you switch to auto, i.e as the light intensity on the sensor decreases the parking & headlights switch on & when tthe engine is turned off, the headlights stay on to a set delay & then switch off.

Yes, thats what the sensor is for, but it also serves other purposes in my 98, not sure if it was the same in your 93.

Sorry I cant be of anymore help, but anyhow, make sure you post in the LS400 forum, as this is a LS430's.

I've heard about this problem before, but im not sure what the solution was.

(im sure the mods will move it anytime now, thanks guys).
