Where is it coming from?
I have a few Lexus' and need help finding a sound coming from my '96 model. It is almost like a lifter rattle but not as prominent, it's more like a pebble in a tin can. It shows up more when the car is warm and under load such as red light to red light. It does have about 175,000 on it now and this is the only problem that I have had with a Lexus!! I want to get this taken care of asap because I am giving the car to my mom next week (getting a later model LS Tuesday).

Thanks for the responses. I had some work done today, they adjusted the valves and replaced the 'cats'. It also turns out since I bought the car used it has never even had an ignition serviceing. So after all this and new set of tires it is ready to go tomorrow. Thanks!!

Well, I don’t know what you’re exactly referring too, but mine somewhat sounds like its running on diesel with the pulsed engine sound. Is that what your talking about?
I have no idea what is causing this, or how to fix it. Mine has around 100K, and FULL 90K service was done.
Thanks.

Don't know what it is, but I have that noise when accelerating slowly with traffic. I thought it was pinging, but I'm using 93 octane gas.
Oh yeah...I have 159,900 miles on her.
