Here is my problem:

My engine is just shutting off while I am driving. It started at a small "stutter" under moderate acceleration, then I was on the freeway the other day and the RPM's shot from 3 to 5, and then to 0 (the engine died) while I was just crusing. I put it in neutral hit the ignition and it started back up again luckily. But now I will just be driving down the street going 30 or 40 and it will die, in fact it did it 3 times today.

The check engine light has been on as well. I don't know if it means anything but it seems to go off sometimes when it is at night and is colder outside peridotically.

I am going to take it to the dealer and have it checked out but I just wanted to get a feel for what they might be telling me so that I am prepared. Thanks for all of your help as it's always greatly appreciated. Best Regards,

this happen to my car too. while driving the engine will shut off. i had a toyota specialist check it out and he told me to replace the fuel pump. the fuel pump was $200 i believe and bingo just like new.

Happened to mine too, and was diagnosed as the fuel pump as well. Except I paid over $600 at the dealer for the fuel pump replacement.
