Default newbie here....need helping on purchasing an early model LS400

hello, im currently in a market for a 4dr sedan and im really liking the LS400. this is going to be my daily driver. so im targeting the early 90s since they go for pretty fair price right now.

i currently own a 93 Mr2 Turbo, Yamaha R1, and civic (which will be sold soon in order to get the ls) notice how everything i have will be toyota (mr2 has yamaha engine btw) lol.

anyways, my question is....im looking for the earlier model LS400 (below 8-9k) which year is the best year?
i heard 93 is better...can someone verify this why?

also, does all LS have traction control (if not, how are they in snowy winter time?).
what about the air rides, are they better than regular suspension?

what should i check before i purchase one?
any other info i need to know?

thanks fellas.

Hello LS Boy and welcome to Club Lexus. I like to think that different model years in cars is much like different years in fine wines. They were all good years, but I prefer the 1993 LS400 versus say the 1994 LS400. The suspension was tighter in the 1993. (Of course, this is all based on personal preference. You might find some people who like the 1992's best.) In any case, the air suspension is a nice feature to have, but not necessary. If you can find a clean 1993, no air suspension, I would buy it. Also, having air suspension meant having all available options.....translation: fully loaded. And I do believe traction was not a standard feature back then. Let us know what you end up getting and post a picture of your new car!

I own a 1990 and nothing but good to say for it, It did not come with traction control. Some things to look for with the 1st Gen LS are power steering pump/pressure hose leaks, climate control LCD burnt out, instrument cluster doesn't work when cold, and of course the vibration between 40-60 mph. There are threads on all of theeese topics, so good luck with your new car.
