HELP - engine goes into "limp home mode" and won't give a ECU reading
- A couple of weeks ago the idle at a cold start ran up to 1900 and stayed there. Wouldn't come down until after several minutes. While the idle was up the car was basically in a limp home mode but ran - albeit slow.
- In the past week this has happened a couple of times. Each time same behavior.
- Today, same thing. But it won't go away.
Took it to Lexus and they plugged it in (I suggested to them that it was a faulty O2 sensor or maybe the idle control valve). No reading. No reading. They checked all the fuses, the connectors but couldn't get a reading from the ECU. I had to leave before they "took it in" - something that may have cost me mucho dineros.
On the way home, same limp home mode with raised idle. No power but moves along slowly. AC is shut off, so is the spedometer!! (those two both came back on again after each one of the previous instances).
WHAT IS THIS?
ANY idea?
Could it be the ECU that's bad - or a sensor somewhere?
