Strut Bolts too rusted?
Hey Guys,
I went to go install my lowering springs yesterday and was told that they couldn't get the bolt to the lower-rear shocks off because it was too rusted. Is this common. They said that they were putting 400lbs or torque on it and it wouldn't budge so they didn't want to break the bolt or strip it. It this true, or should they try harder to get it off?
What do you guys think?

Several Three Stooges scenarios come to mind which of course would cause far more damage.
A few drops of a penetrating lubricant may help. If not, I'd go to the dealer/auto supply and get new bolts and have the shop bust 'em off...provided this does not damage the strut mount.

Patience is a virtue
It just takes time to dissolve the rust. Get a good penetrant that will stay on. I use a rust dissolver that the local gun shop sells. WD40 will work but it evaporates pretty quickly. Just squirt the stuff on daily and over the course of a couple of weeks, no more rust.
