Default engine light comes up after replacing waterpum

Hi there

Just replaced the waterpump of my 93 LS400 ( hell of a job in the rain )
Car runs great now, but after a minute ( or so ) the engine light comes up
when the light comes up I do not notice any difference and it still runs smoothly
Anybody overthere who knows what could be the problem??
One thing I messed up was that I snapped a little Plastic pipe at the unit that goes to the air intake at the engine ( tried to fix it, but there still could be a little vacuum leak )

Would appreciate all help or suggestions

Thanks

John

Shelby - Per my '92 Lexus repair manual that plastic valve that you snapped ( sorry to say ) is the BVSV valve. Dont ask me what BVSV stands for - I dont know but that is what the book calls it. It is part of the EGR system. If you check the diagnostic code, you probably have a DTC code 71 "EGR System Malfunction". I believe that part is around $ 50 at the dealer. That will need to be replaced. Then just reconnected the two vacuum lines. You then need to clear the diagnostic code by removing the EFI fuse or disconnecting the - termainal of the battery for about five minutes.

I snapped off one of the valve ports on mine and had to have it replaced. Around $ 25 at a junkyard.

Hope this helps.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply
The pipe I snapped was not from the valve it is from the big aircollector that is mounted on the right side of the engine ( a connection between the airfilter and the air intake ) on that collector, there are two hoses one big and a tiny one. ( facing the innerside of the engine )
I have snapped the tiny one.
Regarding reading the codes;
when I check all the leads regarding reading the engine codes, people are talking about connecting the E1 and TE1 or the E1 and TE2. Could you tell me which i should use?
The diagnostics unit on my car is located on top of the front of the left engine bank

Regards

john
