Do you think this LS460L is worth $20K?
Hello all, I am currently looking into purchasing this 2008 Lexus 460L for $20K. It has 125k miles and is loaded with the executive package. it is not perfect, has a lot of scratchesand steering wheel is is kind of worn out at the leather part. in the rear there is a lot of scuff marks located behind the front seats from the rear passengers. The table that pulls out is cracked at the wood grain, and in the trunk is the subwoofer and amplifier cables that the previous owner left and took out all the aftermarket subwoffer. the radio does not work, from what they told me, it is because the battery has just been replaced and they have to bring it to the dealer to get programmed. they said they guarantee it will work, and they just need to bring it to the dealer. the tires need to be replaced, it currently has hankook tires. what amount do you guys think this vehicle is worth?
I wanted to trade in my 2002 SC430 as well and they said it is only worth $6K, do you think this is right?
here is the vehicle, any advice is welcomed.

they also provided me with a carfax and it shows that it is reported at auto auction as dealer service multiple times, does anyone know what this means?
they told me all cars go through auctions, not sure if it's true.

I wouldn't pay that much for an 08.

I wouldn't pay more than $14,000 for that car...it has some miles on it and it's eight years old. Plus from what you've said, it doesn't sound like it's in great shape. I'd shop around.

Sell your SC430 privately. Those vehicles have a decent following and I think you'd be able to maximize your value better that way.
And I think you're questioning enough on this LS460L to answer your own question; there are enough prime condition L460's and L460L's....just remember they NEED to sell this car, you WANT to buy this car. Time is on your side, not theirs.

Get the VIN and enter it at LexusDrivers.com to see if there's any decent service history, at least from its early years.
I think that's too much money. There are a lot of low-mileage LS 460s out there. I know the 460L is harder to find, but it's worth looking around.

The fact that it has been auctioned so much isn't necessarily a red flag, but it does generally lower the value because people don't like to see it. I would be happier if there was a bunch of Lexus maintenance entries on the carfax so you could know a little better if it was taken care of.

They offered you 6k for that SC?!?!?!? HOLY In Canada those go for 15k for road worthy ones all day long! *mileage depending*
And that 08 with that mileage should be no more than 17k-ish... it's not exactly low miles, I'm comparing with overpriced Canada prices here... You can score 2010's in the mid 20's with FAIR mileage.
Ehhhhh, not quite, maybe the thing was a giant POS and no dealer was able to sell it after sitting on the lot for one year?
Could be plagued with little electrical gremlins which these are somewhat known for [speaking to local techs]...
It's cheaper to "take a loss" at the auction than through an actual sale where the taxes gobble up your loss, instead of "writing off" the loss...... or simply putting it against other inventory.

As far as the selling price of the LS and the trade in value of your SC, I would go to KBB, NADA and Edmunds sites and plug in all the particulars and see what values you come up with. You can also do some scouting on sites like cars.com and cargurus.com.
It seems to me this car has been abused, so I would have a thorough inspection done before buying it.
And no, not all cars go through auctions. Dealers will keep the best examples that they take in trade.

To the Op the only reason this car might not be worth 20K is because of the high mileage , you can find one with much lower mileage for around the same price

This LS with the executive package sound as if may have been neglected and a auction vehicle. You don't want to be disappointed so keep looking because you can find a better LS.
