Default Did the dashboard cluster and gauges get updated for 2013+?

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out if the dashboard cluster and gauges got upgraded for the 2013+ refresh.

The 2013+ marketing material mentions a "multi-color display" in the middle of the gauge cluster (the hourglass-looking thing)... but I'm wondering if the LS460 has had that multi-color center display all along (from 2007 - 2012).

Thank you

That looks like my dash and I have a 2010.

Multi-color display has been there since MY 2007. The look of the cluster overall cluster and gauges was tweaked slightly in MY 2013, though.

2007-2012 have dividers between the different LCD portions. In the 2013+ models the dividers are removed so it looks like one seamless LCD from top to bottom. Where it's displaying the outside temp, on mine it shows Trip info and redline looks slightly different also.. I've never understood the "multi-color" portion though since the thing seems to be able to display real colors for the PRNDS display only. Otherwise everything else is more grayscale with a slight hint of blue or something.

I noticed that pictured cluster shows the cruising range at the top portion of that screen. Anyway to change that? Mine shows the outside temp which I could honestly care less about since the climate display shows the outside temperature.
I've never figured out a way to change the top portion even though I'm able to cycle the bottom portion.

I am attaching pics of the dashboard my 2012 LS (previous) and 2014 LSL (current). Sorry they are blurry; I snapped them while driving. They show the differences Enoch861 described. In addition to the central part being split up in the 2012, the font for the speedometer numbers is also different. They were slanted, as if italicized. The numbers are straight in the 2014.

I can cycle thru the top half by pushing the DISP button on the steering wheel. I don't think you can remove the outside temp in the 2014. The climate display on the Nav screen does not display outside temperature.

Best wishes,
AC

Thanks for the feedback and the pictures outlining the differences.

I figured there was a bit of a difference, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it, until I saw the side-by-side images you guys posted.

I suppose Lexus indeed can legitimately claim they "redesigned" the cluster for 2013+... if ever so slightly

The interesting thing is that the language describing the multi-color display is - verbatim - the same in the product information 2013 PDF and the earlier versions, so indeed it's just the appearance that changed, with the blue lighting arguably being the most noticeable change.

Makers sense.

Is it safe to assume that the blue/red backlighting was a 2013+ addition?

Now I really want to get my hands on a 2007 - 2012 for a test drive to really appreciate all the amenities my 2013 has... and compare the differences

If only there was a video outlining the exact differences... I couldn't quite find one online.

Hey Jason,

We will await the video you post about the differences after test driving the 2012 and comparing to your 2013!

The backlighting changes with the comfort/sport setting on the air suspension. Since many 2007+ cars also had air suspension, I wonder if they had some other visual cue on the dashboard if backlighting was not yet added.

Best wishes,
AC

My '08 460L had air suspension. The only visual cue was a shock icon with the word "Comfort" or "Sport" depending on which way you toggled the switch. Ditto on my '10 600hL, despite the cluster being all LCD (entirely different from the 460 cluster).
