Why isn't there a recall on the control arms? Sounds like design flaw which also impacts tires and brakes.
As Doublebase said, I'd go the aftermarket route and save a LOAD of $$.

2007 LS460 with 76K miles...I bought it used 2.5 years ago with 45K and thought it was well worth it. My only repairs have been: DIY replaced headlights (less than $40 and less than an hour of time), DIY one battery at $120, one set of Michelins Primacys $800, replaced spark plugs $350, and regular oil changes $70 a pop.
Other than my patience wearing thin concerning the deteriorating interior, this car has been great. Just considered trading it in, but nothing felt like my old black beauty.
M56...fast, but way too harsh and tinny-like.
S550... way too similar and worried about repairs
GS 350 AWD F-sport...way too small and felt a bit too Toyota like
X6...perfect, but can't trust reliability after researching
LS460...just plain can't afford it and pay student loans.

I have an 08 and just passed 155k, I bought this thing new.
I had the control arm issue last year at 120k, replaced it and moved on.
I believe this car is super reliable but I will agree the interior deteriorated rather fast.

What problems are you guys running into regarding the interior? Mine's fine, it's my control arms that have given me trouble...and batteries, and tires...other than that it's been great.

Many of us here are experiencing the control arm failure, my advice to you would be to take it somewhere else and have them put aftermarket parts in it. You'll be able to have someone replace all 8 for around $1,200 bucks, which is'nt that bad considering you are replacing basically your entire front end. I'm probably going to be doing mine this month, I can buy all 8 control arms for $520 bucks (aftermarket). As for them not being OEM Lexus parts...those very same OEM parts have proven they are not very good and I can literally buy 6 sets of control arms, for the price of one set of Lexus genuine control arms (that will fail anyway).
