Road Trip
In the middle of a road trip to South Carolina to watch my son graduate from Marine Corps boot camp. Staying in Raleigh for a couple days to visit friends.
On the ride down, average between 70-80mph. So if I had continued driving the last 52 miles it would have been 602 miles to a tank. Average for the tank was 29 and change. I am beyond impressed. I went from MA to VA on the same tank.

Congratulations are definitely in order regarding you son first of all!
Huge accomplishment!
Secondly, these car's in regard to gas mileage (highway) are engineering feats, especially given the fact that many of us owners possess 460's that are 7+ years old.
I still haven't taken mine on a road trip but I swear I look forward to it!

Thanks everyone! It is very exciting to see him become a Marine as I am one myself. He grew up hearing my stories and now he gets to make his own. Very proud.
Yes the car has been flawless and very comfortable. We have another 5-7 hour ride tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it.

Congrats to Dad and son alike!
I knew I had made the right decision when my gently used '08 460 got 30 mpg on its 800-mile drive home... despite (it turned out) improper alignment, failed control arm bushings, and being in 100+ temperatures most of the way.

This car is a great highway cruiser. I've made 4 or 5 trips from Los Angeles to Kansas City and achieved 31mpg on some tank fulls. At 115k miles on the car, I'm still getting great mileage on the hwy - city drving is another story.

Racked up another 1100 mile road trip to NE and back on Tuesday/Wednesday for a classmates father's funeral. Ya got a love long road trips in these cars.

I have regrets that I didn't do military service. If I had, I would have been involved in all the gulf war stuff. Who knows, I might not have made it through that, so maybe it's not right to 2nd guess one's self. I did it the way I thought was best.
I love the military. My biggest regret is, there's a whole band of brothers I missed. It trully is a brotherhood / team. And I've always been a big team player. I think I would have LOVED it.
I just sold my 1993 Mazda RX-7 to a Marine. And he's loving it. Dealing with him was like taking a breath of fresh air. I'm a "say what I mean, mean what I say kind of guy" when it comes to dealings like selling cars. The first time this guy emailed me, I could tell, this guy is for real, no bs. It wasn't until later he told me he was in the Marines. I was just about to leave on vacation when he emailed me. I told him, "all I've been dealing with is a bunch of idiots. If you want the car, it is yours, and we'll set it up for you to get it when I get home from vacation. Nobody will touch the car anyway while I'm gone." Sure as the world that's the way it played out. He did exactly as he said, and so did I. The transaction went smooth, he has a clean and clear title, and an awesome car. He's a young guy too (like 25). I'm glad he got what he wanted. And I'm glad I didn't sell it to an idiot.
As for the OP's LS fuel mileage. Why do you tolerate such low mpg? 29 mpg? C'mon. I had a Hyundai Accent (Hyundai gave it to me for free to drive when I worked for them). And even though the Accent was a lot smaller, a lot louder, kind of lumpy-bumpy driving like a go-cart, and even though it's sound system sucked and had to be turned loud to over power the road / wind noise, and even though it looked like a turd on wheels, it would consistently knock down between 30 and 32 mpg. Saving an owner literally 10's of dollars over an ownership period.

Well just returned last night after a 16+ hours drive. I drove straight thru only stopping for gas and I wasn't too bad. I could have gone a couple more hours if necessary. Total mileage for trip was around 2200 miles.
No issues, no complaints, car ran great. I did stop at the last traffic light last night at around 3:55Am and the only other car at the light and in any direction was another LS. It was weird almost. haha
Thanks for all the comments. Got the new Marine home safe and sound. Couldn't be prouder. As a Marine myself it was amazing to see my son follow my path. It was great to go back to Parris Island as well. Last time I was there they didn't let me do much sight seeing.
