Minor rear damage on Carfax
#3
Many vehicles listed on Carfax are damaged and I would avoid that LS. It's always "minor damage" when the damage could be serious and lead to other problems. It pays to have a vehicle inspected for accidents especially when you are about to spend big bucks.

Take it to trusted bodyshop to confirm repair was done right, then take 10% off NADA/KBB/Edmunds fair market average. Same will be done to you when you trade. Dealers tend to trivialize minor accidents when they sell and then cut throat when you trade in if there is anything in Carfax.

Remember this if and when you get into an accident and have to deal with an insurance company to get the car "repaired." The value of your vehicle will be diminished ("discount", "avoid that LS", "10% off"). Make sure to investigate a "diminished value" claim with your insurance company to deal with the damage over and above the twisted metal and broken glass.

Every case is different. I had a fender-bender happen to my car in 2013. The front bumper and some sensors had to be replaced. I paid out of pocket, job done at dealership, fully documented. The thing is, a cop stopped by at the time of the fender-bender and said "I'll have to report this" - so he did, and a few weeks later my carfax showed "accident" -- the car is totally perfect, no issues, but because of this cop I'll probably lose some $ if I decide to sell. You will find cars (like mine) with minor repairs showing up as "accidents" on carfax, so look on a case-by-case basis.
