WEIRD VGRS steering wheel temporarily off center after a sudden U-turn
While driving to work I did a quick U-turn to avoid a congested left turn lane and when I completed the turn and straightened out, the steering wheel was about 30 degrees off center when driving straight ahead. A few seconds later it slowly centered itself, I'm assuming this was a Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) fault. Anyone ever experience this?

Happened to my gs430 once. I was backing up in the snow, wheel was turned all the way. With loss of traction vgrs was confused I guess and my wheel moved itself. Freaked me out to say the least. Restarted the car and all went fine .

Thanks! The conditions described in the recall notice are EXACTLY what happened in my case. But, my car was built 8/2011, and the recall supposedly doesn't apply. But my experience proves that the recall needs to be expanded to later models! I'll see if I can reproduce the fault at will in a parking lot.
