Default ASL microphone locations..

i was wondering if anyone knew where the ASL microphones where located in the LS (w ML if it makes a difference) the ASL system automatically raises and lowers the stereos volume based on vehicle speed and interior noise levels.. simply turn the system off doesnt work as the mics are always active.. i believe one or more of my mics maybe bad or going bad.. and would either like to replace it or simply disconnect it... there is no specific wiring diagram (for the radio harness) identifying the mic inputs.. so i'm asking for help here.. before i disassemble my entire interior in search of the allusive mics...

My guess is its the same mic as the phone since when that mic is in use the audio is automatically muted.

Speaking of the ASL, in my opinion it does not work as well as it should. The volume does not increase enough to compensate for road noise, etc, at higher speeds. Additionally, on my wife's RX450h with ML, the ASL is basically useless. I always have to raise the volume way up when driving that car. Then, when I slow down to a crawl, it sounds really loud. What's up with that? On the LS, the ASL works better, but still needs improvement.

I believe the ASL is based only on speed. Every 20mph increase, increases my ASL by one unit on the 5 unit bar, regardless of the road surface, windows open etc.
