Thanks for super write up!
I got inspired when I heard a subtle squeaky sound. Bought belt, belt tensioner and idle pulley to replace all three parts. Followed your approach to the tee and it worked. Took about 45 minutes including changing the tensioner and pulley.
I believe the sound came from the tensioner since it was totally dry and slightly wobbly.
Less than $200 in parts and no squeak!

Again, I'll state that this is a great write up. But I'd like to add just one thing to this. I went ahead and followed your instructions and got my belt done today. Everything was just as you posted. But in the process of twisting the tensioner, I leaned up against the small outlet that leads from the radiator to the overflow. And snap. Broke right off. So all DIYers, please be cautious of this. I'm having a buddy come by in the morning with some fittings and epoxy to get this resolved.

This is why I like Toyota over the European makes because they are less complex to fix and that is if they ever need it. My experience working on Toyota cars as an owner is primarily why I choose the LS. Well done sir, thank you.

I ended up replacing the rad as a result. While I was in there, I also replaced the hoses. Fortunately, it's a relatively easy job and the parts are inexpensive. I got a rad on Ebay for 60 bucks with a lifetime warranty and Gates brand hoses for under 20 bucks.

Thank you for good instruction on how to replace the belt with detail pictures. I was able to replace mine in 30min.
One more note is that when replacing the belt I lean on the radiator connector that going to overflow and break it. This connector is made of plastic and was known for very weak. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS.
