Eliminating Resturants POI on NAV
Yikes, I have read the manual about how to delete the showing of all those resturants on the NAV map...and I can't figure it out. The map is so cluttered you can hardly see the roads! So how do I change the POI to NOT show any..step by step..the manual does not help (at least me).

Yes that happened to me as well. If you go back in to POI were you can select what you want shown just delete the restaurants. When you delete something you don't permanently delete it. Lex should fix that to display exit, reset or clear not delete.

Then, touch the "Display POI Icons" button.
This brings up the "Display POI Icons" screen.
Here you can change which icons are displayed on the map, or delete them all.
In fact, you can do this while the car is moving.

Honestly, lockouts aren't too objectionable.
It would appear that the level of lockout's is about the same as they were on my '03 LS430.
Most functions (audio, climate, and even Nav) are allowed while driving.
I find the lockouts only mildly annoying, and (although I'm reluctant to admit it), not completely unreasonable.
I can recall that on my previous car, which didn't disable anything, as I'd be driving and entering an address with the iDrive (VERY distracting), I'd be thinking to myself "I really shouldn't be doing this....".
Yes, I've had to pull over a few times to get a local POI list or such. I don't think the distraction of getting a POI list, though, is any greater than the distraction of doing things that ARE allowed.
I guess my main objection, is that I don't like being nannied, even if it's somewhat appropriate.
Having said all this, though, the warning screen on startup is completely obsessive/compulsive and ought to stop after n occurrences.

Hehe with the driver facial recognition technology that Lexus has installed on the LS, perhaps future models will recognize that the driver has said "I Agree" in the past and waive the startup screen.

Hehe, I remember reading threads months and months ago about verbal 'I agree'...did that ever work?
Anyhow, back to the POIs, at Taste of Lexus they had those standalone XM NavTraffic NAVI setup systems, and I have been so used to 'POI off' by voice that I didn't know how to clear the POIs there without the voice command. It was pretty funny, playing through the menus and at some points, the system asked to 'check the connection' or something like that. The screen was clogged with restaurant/gas station POIs.

I think I read in the manual that Italian restaurants must always be displayed!

Actually, I now know that the voice command works well and that my problem was the manuel did not make clear to me that I just needed to push the "Map View" button on the screen ,and then delete would pop up. I was doing it from set up, where no "delete" ever pops up, you can just add even more POI's!
