Default Fixed 460L wheel size

I was just at the dealer having some work done on my ES350 when I looked over an LS 460L in the showroom. There was a sticker prominently displayed in the window that stated that the owner was not to use any tire (wheel) size other than what comes stock with the car. It further warned that any change in the wheel size would damage the car.

I've never heard of this kind of warning before. What is with the design of the new LS that could be so drastically affected by a different wheel size? Yeah, your speedometer/odometer are affected, but this warning was a lot more dire and claims actual damage will occur. What's gives?

that was the 460l with the touring package right?
i know that the touring package wheels wont fit on the regular ls 460 becuase it has a different steering rack. also if you have a ls with air suspension you have to look out for rubbing issues there.

well i also just saw a thread here that shows a guy that has 22" autocoture wheels 9.5f and 10.5r from D2-autosport. you can put some really big wheels on this car.

I think it could also throw off the advance parking system. You end up on the sidewalk parked over 3 pedestrians who were just minding their own business!

right that makes sense. when you put different wheels on, just keep that in mind and don't use it.

As long as the offset is correct, it clears the brakes, and has the same rolling diameter as stock, it will not make any difference in operation, except for the harsher ride that comes with low profile tires.

you sure, you have proof? i am just trying to make sure it's proven wheels have effect on advanced parking, which i don't see why it would be

i agree with rocman. if it's right size, offsets, tires, etc... you should have no problem. i don't see how it can be a problem. and so many people have done it already for crying out loud (don't look at the US market, look at japan) and there hasn't been any report.

lexus has to do what they have to do. in the manual they say absolutely nothing other than manufacturer. but who cares as long as you know what you are doing

btw, i believe it's been posted that the 19" touring wheels are put on normal ls460 at some dealerships
