According to Longo Lexus, their first non-launch car will arrive by the end of the month (it's a black-on-black Premium II). They are also supposed to receive three launch edition cars (I'm number 4 unfortunately) by the end of this month. Next month they will get the remaining two launch edition cars (mine included) and two more non-launch edition cars. They then expect four a month from September forward. This was all told to me by Chris McCarty, the General Manager at Longo.
With 2,000 vehicles allocated for the first year, and some 350 dealerships, then that comes out to about 5-6 cars per dealership in a year. However the major dealerships (Longo, Park Place, JM Lexus) naturally get a lot more.
So Longo gets 4 a month, that makes 48 vehicles a year...
Is it 2000 vehicles for the first year going to the US, or 2000 vehicles total worldwide for the first year?
U.S. only. Lexus Japan execs expected around 2,000+ for the LS 600h in the Japan market itself; and indeed the past month has seen record sales: 5,300 LS 600h and LS 600h L orders.
So it seems the Japanese market will be the largest LS hybrid market thus far. The U.S. market is second in size. The Europe market will also see a greater hybrid/petrol ratio for the LS, but the numbers are much smaller I expect.
BTW, in Japan the Lexus LS 600h is approximately ¥10,000,000 (US$87,000), with the LS 600h L at ¥15,000,000 (US$125,800).
