Default Hard Wiring a Radar Detector

Has anyone hard-wired their radar detector. If so, were you able to hard wire into the light or sunroof up top or did they have to run down the A-pillar to the fuse box? Also, would you trust a good audio shop to do this or should I take it to Lexus dealer and pay triple?

Thanks guys. Great forum.

I had the Escort SR7 with shifters installed for $1200.00 and the head unit is mounted on my steering column and it was a very clean install. Took them about 4-5 hours. I had it done at a stereo shop. They do them all day everyday.

I had my Valentine One hard wired at the Lexus dealer. It took about 1.5 hours. They did not go through the sunroof. I made it part of the deal when I took delivery.

I hard wired my K40 Calibre radar and laser defuser myself. Couple of nice features:
- Wireless Bluetooth technology (one doesn't have to run wires from the front or rear through the firewall)
- Small LED indicators can be placed most anywhere.
I did the entire job myself in about 2.5 hours - pretty straight forward. I'm not too mechanically inclined. LOVE the product BTW.
