2007 LS460 This same thing has happened to me 3 times in the last month. I almost got killed merging on the freeway...Had the pedal to the floor and nothing! I just had an oil change less than 1,000 miles. I only use 91-93 Octane. I just added some fuel injector cleaner this past week, and haven't had any issues since.

I am encountering the same issues after a recent major service repair at 91K. I have a 2007 LS460. No engine light on. No warnings. There's a significant loss in power. Now, I've been searching for answers and it seems to me it's a major issue. Either reflashing the ECM or changing cylinder heads. Didn't expect this but I may have to take to my local Lexus repair shop (Lexology, Redondo Beach, CA) on Monday. Hopefully my extra warranty will take it from there.

Neither of these is the issue. It's the knock sensor. Well documented, but not remedied by Lexus yet. Based on the safety issue here and the number of people with this issue, I see a recall in the future.....hopefully just an upgraded knock sensor. My car has not exhibited the issue for several months. However, I have an oil change due soon and will report the results after.

FWIW , someone posted a youtube video of the problem.

I always used premium gas, shell stations, my knock sensors always kicked in and retarded the timing this causing this very same issue. I changed to BP premium only nearly 2000 miles ago and never a problem since. I guess I'm the exception but I'll take that!

I just popped-in 5 gallons of VP MS109 fuel and problem is gone!!! Well I went extreme...

My buddy who recently retired from Toyota as the head technical advisor in customer service for 20+ years (Torrance) said he encountered few of these and suggested to only use 76, Shell or Chevron. ARCO, which I used are not recommended from now on...IMHO. I had full tank when I encountered the loss of power and response. So he suggested when I reach 3/4 tank to fill it up again with "good" gas to dilute the contamination and do it again when it reaches 3/4. Since I have a 5 gallon of the VP MS109 sitting in the garage, it's summer and it's scorching hot and I do a lot of stop and go; I decided to put it in the tank and call it a day.

What a difference! Car feels faster and quicker off the line and getting to freeway speeds in not time!

If its the knock sensor and only a small number of cars have the problem, how come changing the sensors doesn't fix the problem and how come it doesn't happen on all of the LS460s? Just seems strange that Lexus can't fix it if this is the problem(?)

I'm not sure. I was really upset when this was going on with my vehicle. I'm glad changing fuel stations remedied my issue.
