Default Tire/Rim question

I am about to pull the trigger on a set of 22s. A few questions though, I have the AWD 600 so the rim shop reccomneded 255/30/22 for the front 305/25/22 on the rear. I was wondering if that was too wide as I wanted to run 245 and 295 rears, but that was below the Load Index.

And also how do you guys think of Toyo Proxe 4?

nah go all around 265/30/22 , if you read over CJ's and some other threads regarding the 600 and the awd.

I am planning to get 22s with Conti's DWS in 265/30/22 all around. Stay in touch and keep us updated on what you end up getting. Im very interested..

Load index is 98 on the 600 and the 460s are 97. A 265/30/22 is a 97 load rating tire that holds 1609 lbs per tire at max psi. That adds up to 6436 lbs which is 400 lbs more than GWVR. I have posted numerous times about the AWD and stagger setup. I have 245/30/22 (92) front and 295/25/22 (97) rear. On paper, it says they each have the same overall rolling diameter. I actually measured them while on car and found that my fronts are about 1/4 shorter than rear. So, I'm going 255/30/22 front and keeping 29525/22 rear because it seems like a more dead on match for overall rolling diameter, which is the key to AWD. The 255 has a (95) load rating good for 1521 lbs per tire at max psi. I have been on 92 rated tires that were on my 460 and now on my 600 with no worries so far but I run them at 40 lbs psi. Although the absolute safe route is same size wheel and tire all the way around, stagger will work but you have to make sure your diameters match..as I found what's on paper doesn't always match up..looks like 255/30 and 295/25 is my best stagger setup and if I went same all around 265/30 for sure. Check out the wheel and tire sticky thread also

A little bit of knowledge about how modern cars are working is not that bad before any modifications. Please see chapter Operation at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lo...m#cite_note-16

Well, a 600h has much more as a simple ABS and will not display "Idiot" on the dashboard if you have installed tires with different outer diameters. But she runs in some kind of error routines if the expected parameters are not given. Very similar with navigation systems: It recalculates w/o comments if you did not follow the advice. You will not notice the scene behind.

Same with tires: If they are used outside the specification their structure changes. Visible in formula one races and I destroyed a set after a few miles because of changed camber and beeing too fast (often > 130). I strongly recommend same front/rear tire diameters on an AWD car and paying attention to the load index if it is about high speed. Considering this, you have two options:

front 265/30/22 rear 315/25/22
265/30/22 all around

315 is not working w/o changing the fenders

However, test them before buying 22's! You ruin the comfortable ride of a 600hL. It will be better as riding other cars but she is definitely not longer the limousine you know.
