Slight whistling sound in cold temps?
Okay, so if our cars weren't so quiet, this would probably go unnoticed. To those of you who must endure winter in 40° or below, have you noticed this while coasting from 45mph to 30mph? It sounds as if it is coming from the engine compartment just behind the dash. You must have the radio off to notice it, it is faint, but I'm curious what is causing it. It's always been there since I've had the car (in cold temps only), just brushed it off until the curiosity finally drove me to this thread.

May be the cabin fan. Have you replaced the cabin air filter recently? When you do, suggest a vacuum of the fan blade area below the filter location. Any debris (like a small leaf) will cause a whistle.

After the recent cabin air filter replacement, noticed a very faint whistling noise in the cabin at idle. Good quality filter (but non OEM) so I wondered if that was the problem. Thanks for the suggest.
