Default 241k and still looks good

Had some interesting lighting this morning so snapped a pic. Not bad for a 12-13 year old car with 241k miles. Gets parked outside now (since July) since I pulled the trigger on a fun 3rd vehicle (2010 Audi S5, also pictured). I have a monthly car wash membership on the LS and get it washed about 2 times/week to keep it looking as clean as possible. I also have it waxed every 4-6 months. It has some very minor scratches but overall it's still in incredible shape. It's my primary vehicle and I still love every minute of driving it.

Earlier this week I took a quick ride of 800 miles roundtrip in it- and I'm reminded of how well this car has held up. I bought it in 2008 with 70k miles and I think it drives the same if not better now than it did when I got her. I'm a regional sales rep so do my fair share of driving and love setting the cruise at 80mph and enjoying the silence. Wonder how far I can push the odometer... I have my sights on a '13 LS in the next 12-18 months so have a feeling I'll never see how far my '04 could go without any major repairs.

Not sure why the pic shows up sideways- if you click on the image it will correct itself. Cheers,

Congrats on the S5! I'm finding that we all have a lot in common here.....we love the LS430, and we love other cars too, oftentimes BMWs, Audis, MBs....(haven't seen anyone mention Porsche yet?).

I drove my 335i to work today, it is a blast and handles so well, and wouldn't you know I hit a 25 min. stoppage going over the bridge (that has never happened before)? Very creepy. to be totally stopped almost at the mid span....accident at the other end.

man I want to tell the same story, got the LS at 80k, now it has 240k. I said to my buddy who owned a '99 LS, I hope this car can do 150-180k easily. He goes try replacing the 1 with a 2!

Thanks, the S5 is a great car (4.2L V8, 6 speed manual) but there's no way I would want that as a daily driver. I enjoy the big, silent, floating ride of the LS.

I need to re-register on the Lexus Driver's site- when I do that I'll copy and paste my service history since I bought the car at 70k into the forum. (Knocking on wood) It is pretty remarkable how little I have done other than routine maintenance. If memory serves me correctly, the only thing out of the norm I had to do was replace my driver door lock and my passenger window actuator (which oddly both went out at the same time) - but that happened around 215k miles. There will be some sort of "gap" on the service history when I lived in Atlanta and took the car to an indy Lexus mechanic which doesn't show up, so you guys will have to take my word for it that it was only oil changes... My experience has been that if you take care of this car it will take care of you.

PS- Tell your buddy to replace the "2" with a "3"..

Always amazed at how much I enjoy driving the LS430. I really thought the 600h would replace it; but the 430 is still exquisite in it's own way. Mine only has 118k miles on it but I agree it drives almost the same as when I bought it 11 years ago. The 560 is fun and the 240D is a hoot but I always come back to the LS430.

Still a benchmark.

my theory is that the best cars were made circa 2004-2008 even 09'ish.....I think it has to do with a roaring economy and engineers getting what they wanted.....

Probably a pipe dream but once I get fully settled with the LS430 (today is the last step for now, state inspection, title was received in the mail yesterday), I'll keep my eyes out for another hehehe wife will not go for that.....my benchmark is $14,700 for an'06 with 81k, and seemingly mint body, FLA car for 8 yrs. Let's say a year goes by, I"m hoping to keep the mileage the same, but see the price drop. Maybe I find the same for $13,200, 81k, 2006 in 2018? Southern car sold at a new car or Lexus dealer? Yes, I am dreaming....

Great to hear JRM! I have to come on the site to hear echo's of how I feel about the LS. My wife doesnt really get it. When we take a ride through the country I make many comments about how nice the car is driving...or how smooth......or how quiet. We stopped at a small town and like you say the light was hitting the car just right so I said I wanted to snap some pics.....funny enough she thought I wanted to take pics of her!!! Nope.....my 2004 LS430 with 140K on her.......I hope to make that 240k some day. Thanks for your post.....good to hear I am not crazy and that there are others out there that love this car. I will enclose a pic or 3 from the stroll in the country.241k and still looks good-lex1.jpg241k and still looks good-lex2.jpg241k and still looks good-lex3.jpg

Suggest taking pictures of your wife first. Include compliments. After that, take pictures of the car. If you only take pictures of the car, may end up sleeping w/it in the garage (or under car cover). Ideally she doesn't lock you in the trunk or something.

Can't go wrong taking a couple of pictures of her (with those compliments) if you're going to stop, wait for the perfect light and then take lots of pictures of the flagship. Especially if you've taken similar pictures of the car recently and shared them with her. Remember to talk to her (about something other than the car) when taking long drives. Also don't ask her to be quiet so you can enjoy driving the car without distractions.

JPV- your car looks great, nice pics. On another note, my father-in-law had a 2006 LS that he got rid of about 2 years ago for a '12 LS460 with ridiculously low miles. He just took my car for a 300 mile roundtrip and came back raving about the ride. In fairness, he hasn't taken his '12 on a roadtrip yet, but he was absolutely blown away by how nice my '04 drove. Good to know I'm not the only one who loves it when I drive it.

Agree that these cars are a real pleasure to drive. I needed a couple of home repair items that I can buy in town. Drove 20 minutes to the Home Depot in another city to get them. I did buy all 3 items at this point (rather than making separate trips). Turned up the stereo, put on the cruise and kicked back. Call it "LS-itis".
