Default Strut renewal.

In my case one of my front struts was leaking down onto the bottom link, it still was working just fine on my 80k milage.

All struts will eventually loose their tightness. At first, you may feel the micro-bounces through your steering wheel. This condition will gradually progress into big-bounces. Take your car out for a night-time drive. Keep an eye on your head light beam when you hit a bump on the road - if the light beam goes up-and-down more than three times, it's time to replace for sure!

Yes, you are correct for some symptoms with worn struts. This is simiilar to worn shock absorbers which are the old terms for what struts do.. However, Struts cause different problems over and above shocks. They can perform properly but may exhibit unusual noises and squeaks and squeals that won't go away unless replaced with new. So much for technology. Shock absorbers were so much more simple to diagnose..... however the future is here...

my right front shock was replaced at 85,000 miles and both front shocks at 96,000 miles. I bought a matching shock for the left rear but at 116,000 still good.. you might have originals at that mileage, but they also might have already been done. Lexus says if it isn't leaking it is alright. by the way for non air shocks it is about $400 a shock. people complain about the air shocks but even the regular ones are expensive. lots of labor on the rears as the back seat has to come out to access the top. I wish I had bit the bullet and had both rears done at the same time.
