In 1 Sentence: What (if anything) do you miss about your LS 430?

I don't drive the 460 much so had to go look.... On the '14, at least, there are fan speed adjustment hard buttons just above the DVD slot below and to the right of the driver side temp setting readout..... (I tried to cut in the picture from the manual - page 395 item #7 of the '14 owners manual - but could not cut out just that one page...).
Look at pages 352-3 for the 2012 layout of the fan speed buttons....

ah, first world problems indeed.

Is the non-touch screen interface ez to use?

I find the non-touch screen in my 2015 RX 350 to be more distracting and require more concentration to use. It has the little mouse like thing that you move around with. Then last week I had a 2016 RC350 rental. this one had a flat computer track pad type thing to use for the navigation. That was even worse. Don't think they are user friendly at all IMO.

Having had both the touchscreen and the RTC, the RTC doesn't bother me and I don't miss the touchscreen. If you're just driving one on a test and you don't take the time to get used to it sure you're not going to like the RTC, but once you get it adjusted properly for you, and you exclusively use that its just fine.
I like what the RTC allows them to do with the screen and the layout of the interior.
Plenty of carmakers use controllers instead of touchscreens.

Interesting thread! First time I'm posting here (on theLS460 forum, but a clublexus member since 2006) and can honestly say that I have not read most of the posts here. However, after 6 1/2 years of ownership, I love my LS430 and don't see any imminent reason for selling it, however, nothing is forever, and if the time comes, I might be considering another large Lexus and the LS460 would be a contender. Interesting to see how many members still love and miss there LS430s.

Well they switched for a reason... they build a near bulletproof and dare i say legendary/hall of fame engine that can - literally - go 500k miles or more in the 1UZFE and its siblings... and then hamstring its longevity with a belt on an interference engine (Gen 2+) that can snap and bend every valve in it.
While I understand it is an owner maintenance issue, the fact is most cannot do it themselves and 1500-2500 dollars of maintenance work every 90k miles is ridiculous at worst and not palatable for most at best. That would be over 10 grand to maintain the belt and waterpump alone for a car to reach its longevity potential... hence lots of trashed LS400s out there, sadly.

Agree they are 100% cool. However there's a downside. When they fail, the noise can be truly awful. Drove a very nice one owner 2005 230. Switched on the swivel vents. One 100% non op. The other made incredibly loud grinding metal sounds. Expensive to fix if you go to a dealer (like 900 to do both). No, I did not buy the car.

When all the fancy stuff starts to break (power wheel, side mirrors, etc.), I'll just chalk it up to being an old car and diable/turn those gizmos off. As long as the driving experience doesn't change I'm happy. Car still drives and rides absolutely dream-like which is why I love it so much and see positively zero reason to get rid of it. In fact, I see easily another several years and 50k miles on her before I'll probably give in to my itch for a '13.
More on this topic, I eventually will get a '13+ 460 and I positively know I'll miss the 4.3. But the new looks and interiors of those make up for it.

LOL I turn them on occasionally to entertain either myself or passengers. Agree on the gizmos. Shut off the folding mirrors and don't adjust them all the time. Shut off the auto tilt/telescope. Keep it covered or garaged. When you get the 460, might as well keep the 430. Why sell for so little when you have a great car? Am facing that now. Can only get 8.5 for a well maintained low mileage '01 in excellent condition that runs perfectly. LOL I'd at least like to sell it someone that likes 430's!

You can't hear it from inside the car, but outside the LS460 has a louder engine than the 430. The LS460 has direct injection - along with port injection - and the direct injection high pressure pumps tick. You can here it outside of the car...inside the car? You'd have to have k-9 hearing ability to notice it.
A lot of cars are going back to timing chains and it's a very good thing. Timing belts are quieter, but in all honesty I don't think chains are exactly noisy anyway. It's the direct injection that has some noise. A timing chain should last the life of the engine as long as you keep up with your oil changes - if you put 300,000 miles on a car, you'll save yourself 3 timing belt changes (maybe $3,000).
