Even if my Lexus only has 58,000 miles on it? It is an 02, so the TB/WP is overdue (year wise). I will most likely replace the serpentine belt as well. It's just the fact that the camshaft seals are bothering me, if I should replace them or not.

Yes it is without a doubt too much money. However, when you do decide on a place to install (Lexus or Toyota) as I would not give it to an independent...be certain that you are getting OEM parts. Lexus and Toyota do these a zillion times and should get it right. Trying to save a few hundred dollars and the belt is off by one tooth then you will have a nice day with over 4,000 lbs of trash! Better be safe than sorry.. Good luck..

The attached price sheet from my local Toyota shop shows that "Replace Timing Belt", op code 11TO2H20-TB6, costs $363.95 CAD = $277.09 USD. I don't know if this price includes water pump and/or coolant.
However, $198.65 to change the rear diff fluid is insanely high. On their website, if you select a 2002 Highlander or Land Cruiser, changing the rear diff fluid costs $33.95 CAD. I guess I get a Lexus "special" rate.

My water pump is leaking and mechanic says labor is the same so might as well replace timing belt, tensioners, idlers, etc; then quoted me $600 in parts that iv'e since found on ebay between $300 to $360; here's the list:
Quantity Part Description Manufacturer Part Number
1 Timing Belt TOYOTA 13568-59045/50010
1 Idler Roller/Pulley Koyo/NSK 13503-0F010/50011
1 Tensioner Roller/Pulley Koyo/NSK 13505-50021
1 Hydraulic Auto-Tensioner TOYOTA 13540-50030
1 Front Crankshaft Seal TOYOTA 90311-A0001/43006
2 Front Camshaft Seals TOYOTA 90311-38046/67
1 Water Pump Aisin WPT-800
1 Water Pump Gasket/Seals Aisin Included
1 Thermostat (OE Temp) TOYOTA 90916-03075
1 Thermostat Gasket TOYOTA 16325-62010
1 Serpentine Drive Belt TOYOTA 90916-02586
Notes! All parts are new, fresh stock. One Year/Unlimited Mile Warranty
for $360 including shipping.
Does anyone know if I'm missing something here? Of course, now i'm calling around for the cheapest trustworthy labor but how difficult is it to do this work?

Did my this weekend at an Indy shop. Labor only was 370-380+tax and shop fees (got 2 different quotes), Mechanic said it took him about 5 hours to do it. I used the amazon TKT021 aisin kit. The parts (bearing tensioner and belt brands) looked identical to what came out of the car with 145K miles (I just got the car 2 months ago for a steal)
I can post pics of the old parts if you want. My 14 year old belt was cracked but the bearings and water pump were still smooth and looked almost as good as the new parts, I mainly replaced them for piece of mind.
The kit is only ~180$ shipped on amazon if you have prime membership. I repalced everything because the labor cost difference is only about 1 hour or so (+water pump or without water pump removal)

Also... the first service tech tried to charge me $75 for the headlight adjustment... I was like nah I had it done on my last car and it was free because it's a safety hazard... five minutes later they said it was free of no charge. I know there is DIY but if I can get it done for free and aligned correctly why not.

1.7 w/ water pump and spark plugs at Sac area dealer. I've since found an indie in Rocklin that does my work. I think he wanted 1.3. Having an good indie is great (he worked for Lexus dealer for years). He's willing to rack the car and show me what he wants to do and why. He also disabled the tilt and telescope (simple software adjust). No cost. When I get the engine/transmission mounts replaced, quote is 650
