Question nav screen unreadable. I go by icon remembrance

My nav screen is now unreadable ( esp during the day ) yes... I've made every adjustment available (looks like poop on the screen--I'll supply a pic soon )136100mi 2003 LS 430ultra. dealer wants $4000 to replace--- off the skyway it's going or I leave it in NYC w/ a $100 bill on the dashthere are so MANY other issues with this car, but I'll talk to ya about those later. Do I really need to replace the ((( head unit )))

EBay, auto salvage, or pull it out and have it fixed. Used would be the easiest.

The information you mentioned doesn't really give much to advise or help with. Your screen's death can be related a lot of different reasons. And I'm sure a local electric guru can have a say on such a problem, again depending on what it is, you might need to order some parts(which I don't think will be available) or there might be a short inside there somewhere. It all depends.

Sorry couldn't be of much help, just because this isn't a very common issue with the LS.

Anyhow, I see replacing the unit is definitely not a bad idea, because of how easy it is to install it, it will literally not even take you 20 minutes.

I found one on eBay for you, and it's in Georgia, so not that far away from you.

Good luck and keep us posted.

No need to go all the way to NYC.... Jacksonville will work and you can keep the $100

Here is what my friend did. He took out the GPS unit out of the trunk. He disassembled it. He then unhooked every connection, cleaned and sprayed electronic cleaner on each connection, reconnected, assembled the unit, and reinstalled it. My GPS now works perfectly.

Try and find an independent mechanic who specializes in Lexus and Toyota cars. Always good to get a second opinion.
