Default Camshaft timing tube assemblies leaking oil

I had a persistent oil leak in my '02 and my independent tech determined it was a leak from BOTH of the camshaft timing tube assemblies. Both he and his colleague said they had never seen this part leak oil on an LS430, let alone both of them on one car. The parts were over $300 each and the entire repair job was $2500. Of course while they were in there they also did the cam seals, spark plug tubes and seals, threw on a new timing belt and replaced the front crank seal for good measure, since the engine has 157k miles on it. Anyone else ever had this part leak oil on their car? It is part number 13050A on the diagram:
