MAF Sensor and Throttle Body Cleaning
I want to get the MAF sensor and throttle body cleaned, as my car does have a slight hesitation and has 100,000 miles. From what I have read there is a throttle body gasket that should be replaced - is this correct ? - and I am wondering if it may be wise to replace the sensor rather than just clean it.
I am not doing this myself so wondering what parts to take with me to the mechanic.
Thanks

If you are even slightly mechanically inclined, you can do this yourself. And take you less than 30 min. You can search for a diy. Most use CRC maf cleaner to clean the maf. The throttle body you remove and clean it with some carb cleaner, or leave it on and open the flap and clean. Search for the diy and save yourself money.

Try these links for some info/help:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-cleaning.html
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...and-gs430.html
The second link is for the GS model, but also good info.
Cleaning the MAF is really easy and the throttle body isn't difficult either! Good Luck!!

I just did this on my car and it was well worth it. Took me about 90 minutes to do TB and the MAF sensor. I just flipped the throttle body open and went to town with towels and a tooth brush. Its so clean you can eat off of it now. Car seems to be a bit more peppy. I didn't have any issues before but I feel good getting it done and myself! My mechanic wanted 175 just for the TB. Cost me 7 bucks for the cleaner!

I would do it myself if I had pictures of how to do this on an LS because I am not sure where the throttle body is on the car .... and I am not sure where the MAF sensor is. Kinda sad I know - but very true.

Just take off the air intake that leads from the engine air filter to the throttle body, right in the front of the engine bay.
I cleaned the throttle body along with the MAF but I still have a hesitation when accelerating from a lower speed. I never heard about having to replace a throttle body gasket.
I wonder if replacing the fuel filter will help. I know that's located in the tank.. wonder how tough that is to do.
