Default Camshaft Position Sensor Help.

Need some help got a code P1340 on my 2003 LS430 and it reads "Camshaft Position Sensor A (Bank 1 Sensor 2)". My question is which sensor is this, bank 1 as far as I can tell is drivers side but which sensor is number 2? Is it the one mounted by the cam gear near the timing or the other one that's referred to as a VVT-i sensor?

If it helps car still runs and drives ok other than it wanting to crank over more than usual. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Runt

I'd clear the code to see how soon it will come back.

Here's some more info about the error code, and replacement instructions should you decide to take the next step. Hope these answer your questions.

I cleared them and it came back immediately so I'm thinking the sensor is probably grounded out internally as the wiring seems fine.

Thanks,

I guess I didn't look hard enough this morning it's clear now the wiring on the sensor side somehow got into the belt and was almost ate completely in two. I'm guessing whatever holds it in place came off and allowed it to fall down. So I guess I'll try and fix the damage and replace the sensor if that fails.
