P0172 and P0175 error codes and MAF
Yesterday running an errand, cruising along minding my own business - got the red triangle and check engine light plus TRAC and VSC turned off. Car was running perfectly. Car is 16 years old, 145k miles, this was my first check engine light.
This morning 7 am off to nationwide auto parts store for the free engine check scan - P0172 and P0175 - Bank 1 too rich, Bank 2 too rich. car still running perfectly.
Inspected air cleaner (clean) and looked over engine hoses and connectors - all looked normal. Took out the MAF and cleaned it thoroughly with some CRC MAF spray cleaner. Disconnected the negative battery cable for 15 minutes while I was cleaning the MAF to reset ECM.
Started her back up and so far rest of day running around, no more check engine light. Happy days.

Thanks, Jabberwock. Sounds good for now. Please report back in a few days and let us if it has come back. You may have nailed it, but sometimes these things return.

Does the battery play a part in this??
Hello,
Im new here, I have a 07 IS250 AWD and I’ve invested thousands into trying to remove that damn check engine light, I changed all the O2s, all the knock sensors, all the fuel injectors, the spark plugs, the MAF, the air filter, 😤😭 everything and still the check engine light is on; the codes that pop up are now p0300 p0302, p0305, p0172… im going insane😵💫. Does the battery play a part in this or was that just your trick?
someone please help me

Cleaning it won’t last long. I just dealt with this. Ended up replacing the MAF with a new OEM Denso one. No more issues. To be on the safe side though, I’m replacing the fuel injectors, fuel pump, filter and fuel pressure regulator, coil packs and spark plugs. Also dropped in a new air filter and did an oil change with Mobile 1. Next step after that will also be ECU rebuild.
