Question cassette player pissed off at me

Hello Friends,

My 2003 LS430 ultra all of a sudden no longer can play cassettes. It started when the adapter ( cass w/ aux wire ) just popped out. I bought another and it did the same thing. I tried a few cassettes and they too all popped out. I have about 100 tapes and over 200GB of MP3's. I cleaned the inside w/ alcohol, blew w/ air also. Any ideas? AK47 on standby...

My experience has been that those cassette adapters can sometimes ruin tape decks.

I know nothing about how they work, but it's almost like the motor burns out because they play at a higher rate in that adapter mode.

It happened to a previous car I owned where I rarely used the cassette deck except for that purpose and it didn't last very long.

Thank you for the quick response. I think you're right. I began using the adapter about 7mos ago. I don't want to spend $4k to replace the unit. My cats are going and the front right airbag is always pumping air. It's time to get the C4 and prepare for the 4th of July

Maybe it can be repaired. This Florida company charged only about $25 to repair my 00 LS Nakamichi in 2008: http://carstereohelp.com/lexus.htm

If you want to play MP3's, maybe install an aux-in - sound quality will be far better than from a cassette adapter. VAIS is probably the most expensive aux-in adapter and it's pretty cheap: http://www.vaistech.com/dev/sl2u.php
