Default Help, passenger seat belt indicator blinks w/ empty seat

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a used 05 LS430 UL, and ran into a problem today. The passenger side seat belt indicator blinks with no person or object in the seat.

When I latch the seatbelt into the buckle, the light turns off.

Is there anything I can do to remedy this problem before going to the stealership?

Thank you in advance for any help!

keep the belt buckled.... there is a weight sensitive switch I would imagine that detects when an object is on the seat, and that switch must be defective. Where it is, I have no idea but would imagine on cushion of seat.

Other solution, get black duct tape and tape over the light. Ghetto I know... but hey, better than $100 in repairs right?

thanks for the suggestions, if resolving the issue costs an arm and a leg.... Electrical tape might have to do.

hearing about another ul makes my stomache turn.

Agree with Jay .
Alexus - duct tape, really?
OP - get it scan and fix ASAP............if issue existed then airbag won't deploy when in a crash. It's could be airbag module need reset or sensor not detected correctly. Car been in a wreck before?

From the carfax and looking at body panels, doesn't look to have ever been in an accident.

Yah my 04 UL does this too. It bothered me for a few minutes but then I got over it. I guess I should take it in to get fixed tho before my CPO warranty expires in 9k miles.

Did you ever figure out how to fix this problem? Mine does this too, but only when it's really hot. If I push down on the seat and find the right spot, it will stop, there I imagine it is a sensor that is getting stuck.

Did you have a package or any weight on the passenger side front seat when it was blinking? There is a pressure/weight-sensitive switch in the seat that detects weight and flashes on the driver's display panel if there is weight and seat belt not clicked.
