Sunroof Rattle
Now that the weather is getting nice in the Midwest, I'm retracting the sunroof a lot more on my LS 430 UL. Ever since I got the car 6 months ago, I've noticed that there's a rattle whenever the sunroof is retracted, whether partially or all the way. The problem seems strictly limited to the sliding panel on the inside of the car. When I push on it, the rattle goes away. Moving the panel forward/backward doesn't seem to make any difference. No noise at all when the tilt feature is used. Has anyone else had this problem?

My sunroof shade rattles when it is in any position other than fully forward (closed). I don't hear it on the rare occasions I have the sunroof open due to wind noise. Since I don't like driving with just the shade open due to glare and interior heating from the sun, I leave it closed most all the time.

Mine doesn't rattle in any situation, not even full open on the highway. Hopefully it stays that way.
To fix the rattle, you could take apart the sunroof. Pages 4-7 in the attached file would help with the disassembly.

I am having a problem with a sunroof rattle. In looking at the PDF in the above post, the culprit is the sliding roof garnish front on page 3. The drivers side is firmly attached but the passenger side is loose and rattles when hit by the wind when the sunroof is open. I am unable to figure out how to tighten this piece. Any help would be appreciated.

I know what is wrong with mine I just need to know how to fix it. The piece of metal called the sliding roof garnish seems to be clipped on one side but loose on the other. No matter how I push I can't get the one side tight. Because it is loose it rattles when the wind hits it when the sunroof is open. When the roof is closed no wind so no rattle.

Well the rattle was driving me crazy so is pulled off the offending sliding roof garnish. It has 4 or 5 clips and the 2 on the passenger side were broken. I could leave it and the unfinished part can only be seen when the sunroof is closed and the shade is open. Or I buy a new garnish for $68 bucks shipped from Sewell and snap it in.
