Blackberry & Bluetooth - transfer contacts
Does anyone else have problems transferring contacts with their Blackberry device? I'm on verizon with a 9630 Tour. I was thinking about finding an old school phone that will transfer the contacts. When I went to the Lexus website though it says for my phone I should be able to transfer multiple entries, but it was using older phone firmware of like 4.7 and now they're up to 5.0+.

I was wondering the same. I am currently running an iPhone, which does the calling ok but no transfer of contacts. I tried my sister's blackberry (I think it's like 9700 or something) and while it phone had a option to transfer contacts, there would be an error everytime. I think that since this is a pretty oldschool bluetooth device, it is probably the system itself. Newer systems I've used are much much better. I drove a BMW E60 535i for a few days and it automatically transferred all my contacts off my iPhone (which is notorious for poor bluetooth capability) onto the onboard screen. It was very easy to use (scroll through contacts via idrive or use voice activation) and very reliable. Anyone know if a newer nav software fixes the dim witted bluetooth sys?

oh I have the 10.1, but haven't tried transferring the contacts since I installed it. I was actually thinking of getting an old phone with bluetooth 1.0 that would be compatible with the LS430's system and then just transfer everything over. I guess the hard part would be to populate everything onto the old phone. Maybe Verizon would do it for me. It's easy for BB to BB with their desktop software tho.

ya i've been to that site already and it's not accurate. I have the BB Tour 9630 and it says it should be able to transfer multiple contacts, but it doesn't.
FYI... good link to check out compatibility

Some phones need an app for it. I have a "bluetooth file transfer" app from the android market made by a third party that will let you send anything via bluetooth and it worked with the car. I would assume the blackberry market and iPhone Appstore would have similar downloadable apps. My Incredible was not equipped with any bluetooth file transfer ability from the factory but the app works great.

the BB has the bluetooth transfer built in to the OS. I tried transferring it again a few times and the weirest thing happens. I start the transfer and it seems like everything is going well, then all of a sudden the GPS system shuts down and restarts (the Lexus icon comes up like the car is turning back on), and then it says on my phone that the transfer failed. The weird part comes right after that - some of the icons on the various menus are BLANK, just gone. I thought it was permanent, but when I turn the car off and back on everything shows up again and it works fine. SO WEIRD!!!

Ok so I finally got a new blackberry (have to for work reasons), and it transfers contacts! the only problem is the damn LS430's separating the phone books into #1 and #2. My phone sent all the contacts, like 700 something, but it only filled up phone book #1 half way, to like M. I don't think my phone can send the 2nd half of the contacts so I'm thinking for a workaround I would backup all my contacts to my computer, then put the last half back onto the phone, and then transfer to Phone book #2. then restore all the contacts from my computer back to the phone. crazy huh?? any easier way to do this??
